Seedha Kanoon exists to make business law understandable and accessible for Indian founders, creators, and MSMEs — people who deserve to understand the contracts they sign, without needing a law degree to read them. This page sets out, plainly, what we commit to, and just as importantly, what we're honest about not being.
What we actually are
Seedha Kanoon is not a law firm. We build well-researched, clearly explained legal document templates and educational content — not legal advice, and not a substitute for one. We do not represent clients, appear in proceedings, or advise on anyone's specific legal situation. What we do is give founders and small business owners the legal building blocks of their own business, before they ever need to sit across from a lawyer.
Our core principles
Every template is general — never a substitute for advice on your situation
A good template gets you most of the way there. For high-value or genuinely complex situations, we actively recommend an enrolled advocate reviews your document before you sign it.
We never claim credentials we don't have
We won't imply "advocate-reviewed" or "law firm-backed" unless that's genuinely, verifiably true. Until it is, we describe our process honestly — rigorous research, not professional sign-off.
We cite our sources, and say so when we're not certain
Every legal claim is checked against the actual Act, Rule, or judgment — not someone else's summary. Where the law is genuinely unsettled, we say so directly, rather than presenting a guess as fact.
We treat every mistake as something to fix, log, and prevent
We don't get everything right the first time, and we don't pretend otherwise. When something's wrong, we fix it and record what caused it — so the same mistake is structurally less likely to repeat.
Our marketing tells the truth, even when a bolder claim would sell better
No fear-based claims, no manufactured urgency, no guaranteed outcomes. If a claim can't be traced back to an actual legal provision or verifiable fact, it doesn't get published.

We check the actual gazette text or official portal — not how someone else summarised it online.
Built from a verified clause library, not from scratch each time
Standard clauses are individually researched and refined over time, then reused and adapted — not redrafted from memory.
Multiple, genuinely distinct review passes
A statutory accuracy check, an internal consistency check, and an adversarial read — as if we were the other side's lawyer.
We flag genuine legal uncertainty instead of hiding it
Where a provision is recently amended or genuinely unclear, we say so directly, rather than presenting a best guess as certain.
A mechanical check for what a careful read still misses
A literal, line-by-line check that every cross-referenced clause actually exists and every defined term is used consistently.
A genuinely independent second opinion before anything ships
Reviewed fresh, with no memory of how the draft was written — to catch what familiarity might let slide.

Being direct about one thing: nothing in this process involves a licensed advocate reviewing our templates today. We're honest about that. What it does involve is a genuinely rigorous, documented, multi-stage verification process that most sellers in this space don't publish — because most don't have one.

Seedha Kanoon is built by a law student, alongside full-time work and a full course load — not a large legal team. That's exactly why the verification discipline above matters so much: it's the structure that makes careful, reliable work possible even when it's built one evening and weekend at a time.
