Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Third Amendment Rules, 2026, G.S.R. 418(E), effective 1 June 2026
βœ“ VERIFIED
If you sell packaged physical goods online, separate 2026 Legal Metrology amendments apply β€” the Country of Origin disclosure requirement now commences 1 July 2027 (pushed back from the original 2026 date), while accountability requirements naming a responsible director are already in force since June 2026. This is a different regulation from the core E-Commerce Rules above, and only applies if you sell packaged physical products, not digital services alone.
The CCPA's Dark Patterns guidelines are genuinely, actively enforced β€” not a theoretical rule. Confirmed penalties (β‚Ή20 lakh combined, as of August 2026) have already been issued against e-commerce platforms. Avoid manipulative UI patterns like false urgency, hidden costs, or forced continuity in your own site design β€” this Terms & Conditions document alone doesn't protect you if your actual website's design violates these guidelines.
Before you sign this document:
1. Update the jurisdiction. This template is drafted with placeholder city/state fields β€” replace them with your own business's actual location, not any example city shown in the document.
2. Print on valid stamp paper. This PDF is a drafting template, not an executable legal document on its own. Under the Indian Stamp Act, most agreements need to be printed on physical stamp paper (or e-stamped) of the correct value for your state before signing β€” an unstamped agreement may be inadmissible as evidence until the deficiency is paid. Confirm the correct stamp duty and process for your state before execution.
